Just a stone’s throw from Smithfield Market and St Paul’s Cathedral, you’ll find Barts North Wing in the historic Square at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
From October 2025, the historic Great Hall and the Hogarth Stair — which your guests will ascend upon arrival — are available for private hire, offering the opportunity to host your event in a rare and prestigious setting that few will have had the privilege to experience.
Right in the centre of the City of London, Barts North Wing offers truly unique hire spaces for every kind of event from talks, concerts and wellbeing sessions to meetings and formal dinners. The Great Hall is also the perfect wedding receptions venue and a truly unique conference space with capacity for up to 400 guests.
We work closely with you to create bespoke menus for your event via our catering partner Lettice Events, and can provide technical packages to ensure your event has the sound and lighting it needs.
Our venues are five minutes’ walk from the new Farringdon Elizabeth Line (and Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City lines), and City Thameslink and Farringdon overground, with West Smithfield car park right on the doorstep. See here for map and directions.

The Great Hall and Hogarth Stair
The spectacular Great Hall is reached via one of the most beautiful staircases in London
The grand staircase at Barts is home to the William Hogarth masterpieces ‘The Pool of Bethesda’ and ‘The Good Samaritan’. These vast canvases, completed in 1736, celebrate the long charitable history of the hospital, providing free healthcare for all, and are the largest works ever undertaken by the artist.
The Great Hall is the jewel in the crown of the historic hospital, featuring an ornate plaster ceiling and, on the walls, the names of over 3000 benefactors. The room has been expertly repaired and conserved as part of the Sharing Historic Barts project (2024-25), with new lighting, heating and audio systems to support large scale events.
These awe-inspiring interiors are an ideal backdrop for all types of events, including meetings, conferences, weddings, dinners, talks concerts and wellness activities.
Meeting rooms
Barts North Wing also offers a choice of reception and meeting rooms in the heart of central London
The Henry VIII Room, ideal for intimate dining, special dinner parties and meetings in the heart London’s newest cultural quarter, is an excellent setting for smaller gatherings and can seat 30 for dinner.
The Treasurer’s Room offers natural light, high ceilings and authentic Georgian decoration. Seats up to 20 in a beautiful, bright and glamorous setting.

All of our trusted suppliers have been carefully selected for their expert knowledge of their industry and Barts North Wing, as well as to suit a variety of styles and budgets.
