In this hands-on crochet workshop, we’ll explore the basics of crochet through slow, intuitive making. Participants will learn fundamental stitches, with the opportunity to learn simple free-form techniques to create a small coaster, guided by curiosity rather than perfection.
Crochet invites rhythm and responsiveness. The yarn moves as you do, encouraging patience, presence, and experimentation. As stitches build, the act of making becomes a space to pause, focus, and reconnect with your hands.
The techniques learned in this session offer a foundation that can be returned to again and again, long after the workshop ends. Enjoy a herbal tea as you create in this calming and mindful workshop.
No crochet experience needed. All materials provided.
About the artist
Kimberley Cookey-Gam is a multidisciplinary artist and workshop facilitator, specialising in crochet. Her practice is an exploration of healing through craft, drawing from spirituality and her Igbo cultural roots. Guided by biomimicry, she looks toward the hidden architectures of life; microscopic structures, cellular patterns, and the soft rhythms that shape living matter, and translates them through the slow, tactile act of crochet.
