Wild Arts (★★★★ The Guardian, ★★★★★ Opera Now) is delighted to present An Evening of Opera in the newly restored Great Hall at Barts North Wing.
Designed by James Gibbs in the 1730s and approached via William Hogarth’s celebrated painted staircase, the hall combines grand Georgian architecture with an atmosphere unlike any other venue in London.
Semi-staged by director Guido Martin-Brandis and woven into a new narrative full of dramatic intrigue, jealousy, comedy, idealism and true love, this sparkling production takes audiences on a journey through 75 minutes of glorious music. Featuring arias and ensembles by Handel, Mozart, Rossini and Britten, alongside songs by Richard Rodgers and Stephen Sondheim, the programme showcases some of opera’s most memorable moments.
Performed by four outstanding singers and a world-class string quintet, An Evening of Opera is intimate, witty and full of musical brilliance.
Join us for a very special evening in one of London’s newest cultural landmarks. A sparkling and mischievous September treat…
