St Bartholomew’s Hospital Museum tells the story of nine centuries of healthcare at the edge of the City of London. Originally opened in the 1990s, it showcases objects from the diverse collections held by Barts Health NHS Trust Archives.
Objects and records from the archives collections, including those formerly on display, are accessible for research, and you can search their catalogue online to identify objects of interest and contact them directly to make an appointment. Find out more about booking appointments on their website.
The museum will be reopening in October 2025, along with the rest of Barts North Wing. The Sharing Historic Barts project has focused on restoring and conserving the Great Hall, Hogarth Stair and Henry VIII Gatehouse.
Please note, St Bartholomew’s Hospital Museum does not hold specimens.
Barts Pathology Museum, also on the hospital site, is part of Queen Mary University of London Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, and is not normally open to the public.
